The Faculty of Theology and Religion at Oxford has had a long engagement with the History of Christianity. At present, the Faculty maintains strengths in Anglo-Saxon Church history, in Patristics, and in Reformation history. The Hensley Henson lectures are a series of lectures given annually by a visiting lecturer, who is required, by the terms of the bequest, to speak about, 'the appeal to history as an integral part of Christian apologetics'. In 2016, these were given by Professor Sarah Foot.
