History of Christianity

The Faculty of Theology and Religion at Oxford has had a long engagement with the History of Christianity. At present, the Faculty maintains strengths in Anglo-Saxon Church history, in Patristics, and in Reformation history. The Hensley Henson lectures are a series of lectures given annually by a visiting lecturer, who is required, by the terms of the bequest, to speak about, 'the appeal to history as an integral part of Christian apologetics'. In 2016, these were given by Professor Sarah Foot.

There is a lively Church History Graduate Workshop each term.

Further information on this programme and the wide range of other events at the Faculty can be found on the events page here and on the lecture list.
