Thesis Title:

The Will to Trust: Exploring Trust Though Analogies with Non-doxastic Venture Models of Faith

Supervisors:

Prof. Mark Wynn (Oriel College) and Dr. Thomas Simpson (Blavatnik School of Government)

Biography:

I am a DPhil researcher in Philosophical Theology at the University of Oxford. I began my doctoral studies in 2022 and expect to complete my dissertation in 2025. Prior to academia, my career has been in educational and formational program support —initially in the context of a non-profit organization, and later in postsecondary education institutions. I am passionate about helping people to think wisely and well about meaningful questions of life at the intersection of faith and philosophy.

Educational Background:

Certificate in Theological Studies 2016 (Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford); Master of Arts in Theological Studies 2019 (Regent College, Vancouver); Master of Arts in Philosophy 2021 (University of Glasgow).

Research Interests:

I am interested in a variety of questions in philosophy of religion, epistemology (especially virtue and personal(ist) epistemologies), and Christian theology; broader interests include metaphors and models, the philosophy of disagreement, the ethics of belief, and virtue ethics. I am currently writing my doctoral dissertation which engages with the dispositional and volitional dimensions of faith and trust.
