Vacancy: Departmental Lecturer in Study of Religion

Grade 8: £39,992 p.a.

The Faculty of Theology and Religion, in association with St. Peter’s College, is seeking to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Study of Religion to play an active role in the teaching of existing undergraduate and graduate courses for the Faculty and the College. The appointee will become part of a vibrant research environment and will have opportunities to develop their career in research, teaching and collaborative work.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post available for two years from 1st September 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidate will hold a doctorate (or equivalent) in religious studies or a cognate discipline with a specialization in religion, a strong training in social theory, and teaching and research experience. They will have a sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop course units as well as a strong publication record and familiarity with the existing literature.

Interest in, or experience of teaching, the psychology of religion; the sociology of religion; and/or feminist theory would be an advantage.
