Vacancy: McDonald Postdoctoral Fellowship in Christian Ethics and Public Life

Grade 7: £31,604 - £38,833 with a discretionary range to £42,418 p.a.

The University proposes to appoint a McDonald Postdoctoral Fellow in Christian Ethics and Public Life to be based at the McDonald Centre for Theology, Ethics, and Public Life. The post is designed to develop the career of a highly promising junior scholar and will provide the opportunity to undertake research and teaching in Christian ethics/moral theology.

This is a fixed-term post available for 5 years from the 1 October 2018.

The successful candidate will be required to compose and pursue a coherent personal research agenda within the field of Christian ethics, and to publish the results. She/he will also contribute to teaching in the area and will support the Director in administering and developing the McDonald Centre.

The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in Christian ethics/moral philosophy or in a closely related discipline, and will demonstrate the potential for producing distinguished research. She/he will have excellent communication skills and the ability to teach undergraduates to a high standard. Efficiency in administration is required and competence in managing a website is highly desirable. A record of successful publication will be of benefit, as will evidence of academic initiative and collaborative work.
